Ortodontiskās ārstēšanas nepieciešamības indeksa (IONT) izmantošana minētajiem Latvijas iedzīvotājiem

2020

Priekšvēsture: Ortodontiskos indeksus visā pasaulē izmanto, lai noteiktu pacientu ortodontisko stāvokli. Visā pasaulē netiek izmantots vienots standarts. Viens no populārākajiem ortodontiskajiem indeksiem ir ortodontiskās ārstēšanas nepieciešamības indekss (IOTN) un Engla klasifikācija (Han & Davidson, 2001).Ortodontiskie indeksi palīdz noteikt nepareizu sakodienu un nosaka pacienta ortodontisko stāvokli. Tas nozīmē, ka ārstēšanā prioritāte tiek piešķirta tiem, kam tā vispirms nepieciešama, un tas palīdz pamatoti un taisnīgi sadalīt resursus (Tang, 1993).Papildus šiem aspektiem, kas saistīti ar cilvēku nepareiza sakodiena izvērtējumu, tie palīdz arī iz…

The influence of change on sense of coherence on dental services use among adolescents: a two-year prospective follow-up study.

2021

Abstract Background To investigate the influence of change on sense of coherence (SOC) on dental services use in adolescents over a two-year period. Methods A prospective follow-up study was conducted involving 334 12-year-old adolescents from public schools in the city of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. The predictors of use of dental services in the last 12 months were selected according to the Andersen’s behavioural theoretical model. The predisposing factors included sex, self-reported skin colour and SOC. The enabling factors were dental insurance, monthly family income and parents/guardians schooling. Dental pain, perceived oral health status, dental caries and gingival status were used to …

Clinical profile of orofacial infections: an experience from two primary care dental practices

2012

Objectives: Orofacial infections are common reasons for dental consultations worldwide. However, there is scarcity of data on clinico-epidemiological profiles reported from primary care dental practices. To address this issue, a study was done to characterize the clinical pattern, age groups affected and sex predilection of orofacial infections in the primary care dental practice. Study design: Clinical data was evaluated from random electronic files of patients for whom antimicrobials were prescribed at two Dental Practices in UK between January 2009 and December 2010. Results: 200 case records were studied. 104 (52%) cases were females. Mean age was 37.2 (+/-15.1) years. 107 (53.5%) cases…

Holes in teeth - Dental caries in Neolithic and Early Bronze Age populations in Central Germany.

2015

This study provides diachronic insight into the epidemiology of carious defects in teeth of Neolithic and Early Bronze Age populations in Central Germany over a period of 4000 years. The data were retrieved from skeletal remains uncovered at 21 sites throughout the Middle Elbe-Saale region (MES), comprising a total of 494 individuals with preserved teeth. The data generated were examined for age- and sex-related differences in order to gain information about the dietary habits and socio-economic structures of the period with the goal of identifying potential diachronic changes. The results indicated that dietary habits changed over the course of the Neolithic period: the prevalence of carie…

The Effect of Periodontal Treatment on the Reactive Hyperemia Index. A 1-Year Follow-Up Pilot Study

2022

BackgroundPeriodontitis is a chronic multifactorial inflammatory disease of the supportive tissues of the teeth. In more recent years, remarkable epidemiological and pathophysiological associations between periodontitis and cardiovascular disease (CVD) have been presented. Whether or not treatment of periodontitis is valuable for primary or secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, has not yet been fully established. In this practice-based pilot study we focused on primary prevention of cardiovascular disease, by investigating the effect of periodontal treatment on the earliest detectable stage of CVD; endothelial dysfunction.MethodsOtherwise healthy periodontitis and non-periodontiti…
